Use this economic simulator to develop your basic purchasing and resource allocation skills. The simulation will check your progress over a period of 40 "stages" and give you a numeric assessment of your performance. You must achive an assessment of at least 3,000 points to consider yourself truly "skilled".
Make any last minute corrections to your surveys and submit them electronic form to the HANDIN folder (You'll also be handing in your completed PAPER forms once they're complete and entered)
This week, you will be IMPLEMENTING your survey
Check your printing, then print out a sheet (or two) that will allow you to Collect 40-50 responses. More responses will result in a more accurate survey. You CAN start with your BTT classmates.

Survey Challenge:
Using the file provided in the spreadsheet handouts folder, use your new skills to accurately and meaningfully analyze the data. You should then draw specific conclusions about the students it represents, and present your findings in a new website of your own design. You should be able to present at least two or three conclusions from your analysis, ie.
SIMPLE questions:
What are the dominant feeder schools at SCHS?
What are the dominant COMPUTER systems used by the surveyed students?
AVDANCED questions
Does the feeder school influence the "computer confidence" of the students?
Friday
Students have the period to complete the Survey Challenge
Put your project in an appropriately named folder and submit it to the appropriate HANDINS folder. You project folder should contain your website (remember the main file should be called "index.htm") AND include your data spreadsheet with your calculations and rough work. GOOD LUCK!

MARCH BREAK!
Monday, March 9th, 2009
Mr. May is away this week - and it's up to YOU to follow the instructions on this wiki and learn how to draw in PHOTOSHOP. If something in the wiki instructions confuses you use these three steps IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER:
READ FIRST - make sure you're reading ALL the instructions - read carefully, and go step by step! Use some imagination and TRY to find a way to make the instructions work! Remember to undo (CTRL-Z) if something goes wrong.
CONSULT [F1] - The Help menu is only a click away - try a search for a term you're looking for ans see if it can offer some clues
CONSULT A CLASSMATE - see if anyone else is able to complete that step - ask them how!
POST A DISCUSSION - at the top of each wiki page is a "discussion" tab - if you STILL have a question, or have a tip to solve one, please post it here - Mr. May will check to see how things are going
Photoshop Happyfaces: Most students have completed and handed in the exercise, but unfortunately most did NOT get the sizes right. Remember, the NEW canvas you make should be 400pixels wide x 300 pixels tall and 72 DPI. The students who got it RIGHT were:
BTT1O.04: Nick R, Cat T and Ken W
BTT1O.05: Victoria A, Jessica B, Matt C, Matt D, Shawn F and Dan G
All others should REDO the exercise - this time making a "Bad Attitude Face" - pay particular attention to getting the dimensions right. Hand in the file to the same "Happy Face" folder - Hand them in as PNG graphics only!
Photoshop File Format exercise: Most students have to complete this exercise - try to get it done TODAY! If you were one of the students who DIDN'T get the dimensions right (as indicated above) you may have to redo this exercise as well - the "flaws" only show up on "low res" images.
BUSINESS CARDS: Students who have completed the above two exercises can work on this
Repair the formatting on your History of Computers exercise and submit it to the appropriate HANDINS folder. Concentrate on the FORMAT, rather than the CONTENT of this document.
Carefully read the Computer Theory page and begin the "Computer Vocabulary" exercise at the bottom - Concentrate on the CONTENT of this document. We will take this up in tomorrow's class.
BTT1O.04 Students - Instructions for Thursday, Feb 12th, 2009 (Last Period)
Repair your final MENU documents and submit them (again) to the appropriate HANDINS folder (15 minutes)
TEST: Complete the new Top Movies Exercise by the end of the period, and submit your final version to the appropriate HANDINS folder. Demonstrate proper formatting techniques - Good Luck!
Grade 9 Business Technologies
Consult the schedule below for today's assignment!
(You'll also be handing in your completed PAPER forms once they're complete and entered)
More responses will result in a more accurate survey. You CAN start with your BTT classmates.
(For each film, "cite" the webpage where you obtained that information)
